School games values the six values of passion, belief, respect, honesty, determination and teamwork were developed by young people to identify what the experience of school sport should be built around.. The school games values are displayed in both halls in school. during each lesson different values are discussed with the children depending on what activity they are doing. during both level 1 and 2 competitions children work towards and focus on different values.. At our competitions along with the usual certificates we give out, schools will be given a set of ‘spirit of the games’ values stickers to reward to children back in school who have best demonstrated the different values..
The way in which schools communicate these values and involve young people in championing this cause will help bring the spirit of the games to life. this will ensure that competitive school sport is a rich learning experience for young people, and an experience which develops them to be not only the best sports person they can be but the best. The games values are promoted in pe lessons, games and sporting competitions to allow children the opportunity to develop these very important skills. not only are these values important within sport, but also within other areas of the curriculum and school life.. This year we are embedding the school games values in all of our competitions, focusing on one value each half term. we will be looking out for an individual or team who best displays it! have a look at the school games website for more information on their 6 values..
