I admit i haven't seen recent statistics on pastoral burnout but, at least anecdotally, it's high. it seems that hardly a week goes by that i don't hear another story of a burnout victim in pastoral ministry.. Mr. scazzero, 54, is the unofficial leader of a growing counterculture among independent pastors who reject the constant-growth ethic that has contributed to the explosion of so-called mega-churches.. 80% of pastors feel unqualified and discouraged in their role as pastor. 50% of pastors are so discouraged that they would leave the ministry if they could, but have no other way of making a living..
